Seven (7) people have died, and 21 others sustained injuries in a road crash on the Hwideim-Acherensua Highway in the Ahafo Region.

The crash occurred on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and involved a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus with registration number GT-9931-09 and a Kia Picanto bearing registration number BA-731-20.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service in a Facebook post on Friday, September 11, preliminary investigations indicate that the Sprinter suffered a tyre burst while travelling on the highway.

The injured were subsequently transported to the St Elizabeth Hospital in Hwideim for medical attention.
