Accra Lions head coach Ibrahim Tanko has acknowledged the challenges his team faces at the beginning of the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League season.

His comments came following the team’s hard-fought 1-1 draw against Karela United, marking their first point of the campaign.

Tanko noted that the team’s significant turnover of players was a contributing factor to their rocky start, stating, “I think we knew we were going to have a problem in the first five matches because we transferred almost nine players and we have nine new players to the starting 11.”

Despite their struggles, having lost their first two matches—1-0 to Medeama and 2-0 to Vision FC—Tanko remains optimistic.

“Definitely, we knew we were going to have a problem, but as time goes on, I believe that we will be more secure and get our points,” he added.

Accra Lions will be looking to build on their draw as they aim for their first win of the season in the upcoming matches.
