Article Wan has dismissed suggestions that his music career is losing momentum, saying he remains active and will not accept claims that he has “fallen off”.
The “Solo” hitmaker was speaking on the 3FM Blocparty Show, as reported by Graphic Showbiz, when he addressed people who believe his career has taken a downturn.
“I have not fallen, but if you feel like I’ve fallen, it’s your feeling. I am working. The moment they feel like you have fallen, they start telling you a lot of things,” he said.
The musician also recalled a conversation with a close friend who told him he would never achieve major success again.
“A close friend of mine told me I will never blow again. I laughed and told the person, ‘It is what you think, but I don’t accept it’,” he said.
Article Wan said he would not allow criticism or negative predictions about his career to influence his mindset or determine what happens next in his music.
He acknowledged that people can be affected by comments made about them if they accept those views as true, but insisted he had chosen not to let such opinions influence him.
“If someone tells you something and you accept it and believe in it, it can work on you, but not me. Watch out for me,” he said.
Article Wan explains the faith behind his music
The musician also discussed the source of his inspiration, saying his work is guided by his faith despite often being described as secular or “circular” music.
“I am working for God. They call the kind of songs I do circular music, but to me, I’m doing the word of God,” he said.
Article Wan added that he believed his musical ability could not have come from supernatural or occult practices.
“No voodoo can give you the kind of talent I have,” he added.
