Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has visited German Ambassador to Ghana Frederik Landshoft and his family at the ambassador’s residence in an occasion shaped by the family’s long-standing connection with his music.

The German Embassy in Ghana said the ambassador first heard Black Sherif’s hit song Kwaku the Traveller during a winter evening in Berlin in 2022. The track became his “song of the year” and prompted him to explore more of the musician’s work.

Black Sherif’s music has remained part of the family’s life since they moved from Germany to Ghana last year. The embassy said Lomo Lomo was especially prominent around the time of the relocation, while IRON BOY provided the soundtrack to their first year in Ghana.

The family had also watched Black Sherif perform live at Zaama Disco in 2025, adding to the significance of his visit to their home.

During the meeting, the musician and his team spoke with the ambassador and his family about rap, highlife and Afrobeats. They exchanged views on their favourite songs and the stories behind the music, while also discussing Black Sherif’s latest EP, SUN SHERIF.

The gathering also underlined the musical connections between Ghana and Germany. The embassy highlighted the contribution of Berlin-based German-Ghanaian producer Ghanaian Stallion, who produced Black Sherif’s First Sermon and Second Sermon.

Black Sherif has developed a following in Germany through his music, and the embassy said the artist was humble, thoughtful and reflective throughout the visit. It also praised the professionalism of his team.

The musical discussion eventually moved to a table tennis match between Black Sherif and Ambassador Landshoft. Black Sherif won a closely contested game, with the embassy saying the ambassador was still “processing the result.”

The embassy congratulated Black Sherif on the release of SUN SHERIF and thanked him for what it described as a special afternoon.
