Young Ghanaian fashion designer and Sam Creatives chief executive Samuel Clottey believes Black Sherif can become the first musician from Ghana to win a Grammy Award, describing him as “the new face of Ghana Music”.

Mr Clottey said Black Sherif’s progress had been marked by creativity, discipline and originality, qualities he believes could help take Ghanaian music to a wider international audience.

He added that the musician’s approach to composition and the way he continues to develop his artistic identity showed a determination to make a significant contribution to the next phase of Ghanaian music.

“Black Sherif is the new face of Ghana Music. I will not be surprised if he emerges as the first Grammy Award winner for Ghana,” Mr Clottey said.

He also praised Black Sherif’s ability to combine a distinctive sound with meaningful storytelling, saying it had helped the artiste establish a clear identity in Ghana’s music industry.

The comments come as Black Sherif promotes his latest project, SUN SHERIF, a six track EP released in September 2026.

The EP includes “Expresso”, “Run Around”, “Forever” featuring AratheJay, “Jolie”, “Frontline” and “Love Again” featuring Trinidadian duo Full Blown.

It follows Black Sherif’s previous releases, including his 2022 debut album, The Villain I Never Was, and his 2025 album, IRON BOY.

Mr Clottey said Black Sherif’s growing reputation should not be measured only by chart performances or potential awards. He believes the musician’s commitment to his craft and his ability to create a recognisable musical identity point to an artiste capable of taking Ghanaian music to another level.

His assessment comes from experience in Ghana’s fashion and creative industries. Sam Creatives has styled several of the country’s leading musicians, including Samini, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Medikal and Amerado.

The fashion brand has also worked with prominent figures from the clergy and business community, including Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah and some business moguls.

That work has allowed Mr Clottey to observe the links between music, fashion and personal branding. He said artistes who pay attention to their public image while continuing to improve musically are better placed to build careers that last.

Mr Clottey described Black Sherif’s career as an example of what can be achieved when talent is supported by consistency and a clear artistic direction.

With SUN SHERIF adding to his catalogue, Black Sherif continues to attract attention for both his music and the way he presents himself creatively.

For Mr Clottey, the expectation is that the musician will continue to develop, refine his craft and help put Ghanaian music at the centre of the global conversation.
