The High Court in Accra has denied a request to postpone the ongoing embezzlement case related to the National Signals Bureau (NSB), which involves GHS49 million.

The new lawyer representing Mildred Donkor, the third accused, applied and stated that he did not have enough time to examine the case materials.

On Tuesday, July 29, Justice John Nyante Nyadu stated that the accused had been given sufficient time to find a lawyer and should have properly informed her attorney about the case.

He stated that he would have approved the request if the accused had been illiterate, criticising Donkor for submitting her documents to her lawyer late.

Mr. Donkor’s attorney, Nutifafa Nutsukpui, stated that he was only hired the night before and had not had sufficient time to review the disclosures.

Deputy Attorney General Dr. Justice Srem-Sai disagreed with the request, stating that the late appointment should not postpone the trial.

The individuals charged are former NSB Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene, his wife Angela Adjei-Boateng, Mildred Donkor, and another unnamed person.

They are accused of misappropriating GHS49 million in government funds to acquire several properties. The following hearing is set to take place on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
