The Ghana Chamber of Mines has taken a major step in its digital transformation agenda with the introduction of a Member Management Portal aimed at improving service delivery, operational efficiency and engagement with its member companies.
The centralised digital platform, developed in partnership with Smart Innovations Ghana Limited (SIGL), is expected to streamline key membership processes and provide a more structured and secure system for managing member data, communication and services.
Speaking at a signing ceremony on the initiative, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Ing. Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, said the move reflects the Chamber’s determination to use technology to better respond to the changing needs of its members and Ghana’s evolving mining industry.
“Digital transformation for us is not simply about replacing manual processes with technology. It is about using technology to become more responsive, efficient and valuable to our members,” he said.
According to him, the Member Management Portal will provide the Chamber with a stronger platform for engagement, improve the management and use of information and ultimately enhance service delivery to member companies.
The portal will allow member companies to manage relevant organisational information, administer authorised users, respond to requests from the Chamber and access services through a streamlined digital environment.
By consolidating these functions onto a single platform, the Chamber expects to reduce administrative bottlenecks and make interactions with its members more convenient and efficient.
Dr. Ashigbey said the initiative would also strengthen the Chamber’s ability to manage industry information and support more timely, evidence-based and data-driven engagement with government, regulators and other stakeholders.
“Our members operate in an increasingly dynamic environment where timely information, efficient communication and evidence-based advocacy are critical,” he noted.
“We therefore have a responsibility to continuously improve the systems through which we engage them. This portal is another important building block towards creating a more connected Chamber and strengthening the value proposition of membership.”
The Chief Executive Officer of Smart Innovations Ghana Limited, Dr. Sylvester Akpah, said the platform reflects SIGL’s commitment to developing secure and reliable digital solutions for industry and government.
He explained that the system was designed around the practical needs of the institutions it serves and would provide the Chamber with a single platform for managing its relationships with members.
“The Member Management Portal gives the Chamber a single, secure and reliable platform for managing its member relationships, one that reduces manual work, improves data accuracy and allows the Chamber to respond more quickly to its members’ needs,” Dr. Akpah said.
He said SIGL was proud to partner with the Ghana Chamber of Mines and remained committed to supporting Ghana’s mining sector with secure, scalable and fit-for-purpose technology.
The Member Management Portal forms part of a broader digital transformation programme being pursued by the Chamber, including the deployment of digital tools to improve internal operations, information management, communication and stakeholder engagement.
The Ghana Chamber of Mines said its broader objective is not merely to digitise existing processes but to rethink how technology can improve the overall experience of its members and stakeholders.
SIGL has undertaken several digital projects within Ghana’s mining and extractive sector, including the Minerals Commission Nationwide Excavator Registration and Tracking Project, the Ghana Heavy Mining Equipment Import and Approval System and the Chamber of Licensed Gold Buyers Digital Platform.
The Ghana Chamber of Mines represents companies involved in mineral exploration, production and processing and serves as the principal mining industry association in Ghana.
