No one related to Samartex SC can say he or she is not excited with the progress they have made this season. The Samraboi-based club finished 10th in their maiden campaign in the Ghana Premier League. In their second season, the Timber Giants are seven points ahead of the second-placed team Nations FC after Week 28.

Former Tema Youth Foward Evans Osei Wusu, 23, has been one of the best players for Samartex and in the Ghana Premier League in toto. The attacker has scored 10 goals for Samartex as he is just two goals behind Stephen Amankonah of Berekum Chelsea who has scored 12 goals and leading the top scorer’s chart.

In an exclusive interview with Samartex, the forward expressed his happiness in the progress they have made so far.

“I am particularly excited about the success we’ve had so far, but we must exceed our usual performance in the remaining matches to maintain our lead.

“The six matches left are pivotal moments for us, and we are determined to overcome challenges and demonstrate our best as we approach the conclusion of the season,” said Evans Osei Wusu.

Samartex’s closest rivals for the title are Nations FC and Aduana Stars but it seems they’re not ready to give the league leaders the hot chase.

Samartex will clinch the league title if they win four of their last six games. RTU, Bofoakwa Tano and Heart of Lions are Samartex’s next three opponents. These teams are heavily threatened by relegation and it makes it a little bit dicey for the Samraboi club.

Bibiani Gold Stars, Karela and Accra Lions are Samartex’s last three opponents before the season ends.

Three wins out of the 6 last games can even help Samartex do the unthinkable.

Samartex beat Accra Great Olympics 1-0 on Saturday as it helped them to extend their lead to 7 points.
