Bay Jet Asamoah Gyan’s illustrious Black Stars career in 2019 after scoring 51 goals to become the player with the most goals for the Black Stars. Ghanaian football, African football and the FIFA World Cup will never forget the former Black Stars super striker.

He made history, excited fans, shocked fans, and, at the same time, broke football fans’ hearts. Asamoah Gyan was the first Ghanaian scorer at the World Cup and is Africa’s all-time top scorer at the World Cup. Asamoah scored the winner against the USA to send Ghana to the quarter-finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana was on the brink of qualifying for the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup with everything at stake. The Black Stars were awarded a late, crucial penalty. The darling boy stepped up and failed to beat Uruguay’s Fernando Muslera from 12 yards, breaking millions of football fans heart across the continent in the 2010 South Africa World Cup.

It has been almost 15 years since that unforgettable day, and Gyan still hasn’t forgotten. Speaking in an interview on TV3’s NewDay, the ex-Ghana hitman said, “If I could play one more game, it would be against Uruguay.” Gyan’s words are full of regret, and he will cherish the chance to write all the errors against Uruguay.

“My most emotional moment on the pitch was when the final whistle went against Uruguay. Not when I missed the penalty, after the penalty shootout,” he shared his unforgettable moment in football.

Disappointment was written all over Gyan and his teammates when the final whistle was blown for the end of the game against Uruguay. The air was filled with disaster ahead of the penalty kicks, with Uruguay taking massive advantage of Ghana’s dark moment to progress to the semi-finals.
