The life and legacy of respected Ghanaian patriarch Kofi Sarfo Assiamah will be celebrated at a three-day funeral ceremony in Denkyira Dominase in the Central Region from October 30 to November 1, 2026.
Sarfo Assiamah, father of former Transport Minister Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, passed away on October 27, 2025, after a short illness. His death brought to an end a life remembered for service, discipline, generosity and a strong commitment to supporting others.
His professional journey spanned several fields. He began as a teacher before joining the Ghana Armed Forces. He later joined the Social Security Bank, now SG Bank, as a marketing operative and eventually became Director of the Consumer Credit Department.
He subsequently ventured into business, where he continued to build relationships and create opportunities for others.
Beyond his professional achievements, Sarfo Assiamah was widely regarded as a generous patriarch whose benevolence extended beyond his immediate family. Relatives, friends, acquaintances and several beneficiaries considered him a father, mentor and benefactor.
Among those said to have been significantly influenced by his generosity is his maternal nephew, Charles Kenneth Sarfo, Chief Executive Officer of Royal Dutch Pharmaceuticals.
He is survived by his wife, Madam Dora Assiamah, children, grandchildren, relatives and loved ones. His family includes former Transport Minister Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, Patricia Assiamah Aidoo, Dorothy Opare Akrofi, Gifty Afua Assiamah and several other children and grandchildren based in Ghana and abroad.
The funeral is expected to attract prominent personalities from politics, business, traditional leadership, the clergy and the Masonic fraternity. Former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, former National Security Minister Albert Kan Dapaah and former Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare are among personalities expected to attend, alongside Members of Parliament and former ministers.
The ceremonies will begin on Friday, October 30, followed by a private burial and final funeral rites on Saturday, October 31. The funeral will conclude with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, November 1, at Denkyira Dominase.
For the family and numerous beneficiaries, the occasion will be more than a farewell.
It will be a celebration of a life defined by service, sacrifice, generosity and the lasting impact of a man who dedicated himself to helping others.
