Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed, affectionately known as Mohammed Polo, has revealed his favourites and his expectations for the Black Stars in the upcoming AFCON.

The 67-year-old former Hearts of Oak forward told btolat.com.

“With the team’s current performance, I think they can reach the semi-finals, but it will be difficult to win the title,” said, Polo.

Nonetheless, The Dribbling Magician, who played a vital role in Ghana lifting the 1978 AFCON thinks the current team does not have what it takes to end the 42-year drought.

When Polo was compelled to name his favourite countries to lift the covetous trophy, Mohammed Ahmed mentioned, “Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Cameroon, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, in order.”

Mohammed Polo had 3 different stints with Accra Hearts of Oak and played 54 matches for the Black Stars in 12 years.

Ghana will kick off their 2023 AFCON campaign with a fixture against West African brothers Cape Verde on 14th January, followed by a huge game against the 7-time winner Egypt on 18th January and finally end the group stage with a tie against Madagascar.
