Manchester City have agreed a £65 million deal to sign Senegal winger Iliman Ndiaye from Everton, hijacking a move Tottenham had been pursuing for much of the summer.
The package is structured as an initial £60 million payment plus £5 million in add-ons, with the 26-year-old expected to undergo a medical and finalise the paperwork ahead of Tuesday’s 10 pm transfer deadline in the UK.
Senegalese forward Ndiaye is prepared to sign a contract running through 2031, according to reports of the deal.
City’s move for Ndiaye came after their pursuit of Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo collapsed, with the Reds rejecting an offer of around £80 million rather than sell without first lining up a replacement.
Tottenham’s own interest in Ndiaye stalled when Richarlison proved reluctant to move to Everton as part of a swap arrangement, opening the door for City to step in and win the race for his signature.
Spurs have since turned their attention to Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk as an alternative target.
Ndiaye, who joined Everton from Marseille for around £15 million two years ago, has made 73 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals and providing four assists, including six goals and three assists in the Premier League last season.
A regular for Senegal, he has represented his country at the World Cup and helped them reach the Africa Cup of Nations final.
The move would mark City’s fourth major signing since the end of last season, following the arrivals of Elliot Anderson, Ayyoub Bouaddi and Brazilian winger Allan Elias, as Enzo Maresca’s side continue reshaping their squad following the departures of Rodri, Savinho, Tijjani Reijnders and others.
