Kevin De Bruyne played his last home game for Manchester City on Tuesday night in the club’s crucial EPL tie against Bournemouth. The Citizens won 3-1 through goals from Omar Marmoush, Bernardo Silva and Nico helping the club on the brink of another UEFA Champions League qualification.
Kevin De Bruyne, 33, was replaced in the 69th minute by Spanish midfielder Nico. When he was coming out of the game, Manchester City fans sang his name, showing how they had fallen in love with their superstar.
De Bryune joined Manchester City a decade ago from German side Wolfsburg and have won 6 EPL titles and a UEFA Champions League among so many trophies.
Manchester City on Tuesday night confirmed that they will be erecting a statue of Kevin De Bruyne outside the Etihad Stadium ahead of next season.
The Belgian will leave the club after both parties failed to agree on a new deal.
De Bryune shared his emotions on the night
“It has been unbelievable to have the ten years that I had, with everything that happened, it has been an unbelievable ride, an absolute pleasure.
“I want to bring joy to people, play offensive football. I want them to have fun, and I think we had a lot of fun in these ten years.
“Obviously you win, you lose sometimes, but it was a joy working really hard to create something for this club,” he added.
The midfielder described his favourite moment in a Man City shirt, “Your life and career is a journey. There are ups, there are also downs, but you have to get through all the moments to enjoy it.
“Every moment I enjoyed a lot, and I learned from the bad moments. It’s been amazing.
“I just wanted to do well and win, and then when you win, you want to win more. We have had five or six parades, all the moments with the teammates, there are too many to count, but it has been a pleasure.
“I will be back, but we love you and see you soon.”
