Manchester United have reportedly decided to part ways with Michael Carrick after the international break, with the club’s board confirming the decision following the team’s disappointing run of results this season.

The Red Devils are expected to use the international break, scheduled for November 8 to 21, to identify a suitable replacement for the Englishman, who has come under intense pressure following another disappointing campaign at Old Trafford.

Despite the decision, Carrick will remain in charge of first-team training for the time being and is expected to continue his duties until the club finds a successor.

This means the former Manchester United midfielder could still oversee the team in their upcoming home fixtures against AS Roma and Aston Villa, two crucial encounters that could potentially determine how his tenure at the club finally comes to an end.

However, given the club’s current form, there are growing concerns that United could suffer further setbacks before his expected departure.

The situation at Old Trafford has become increasingly worrying, with Manchester United currently sitting 17th in the league standings after 13 matches. Their record makes for uncomfortable reading, having managed just two victories, suffered seven defeats and settled for four draws throughout the campaign.

For a club of Manchester United’s stature and history, such performances represent a significant disappointment and have intensified scrutiny of the manager’s ability to turn things around.

Their latest setback came in a disappointing 2-0 defeat, with second-half goals from Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers condemning the Red Devils to another damaging loss to Chelsea in London on Saturday lunchtime.

The two goals exposed United’s continued struggles to deliver convincing performances, particularly when faced with opponents capable of taking advantage of their defensive weaknesses.

The defeat has further increased the pressure on Carrick, whose position has become increasingly difficult to defend amid the club’s poor league form.

Manchester United supporters have become increasingly frustrated with the team’s performances, and the latest result will do little to restore confidence in the manager or the direction of the club.

Having recorded just two victories in 13 league matches, United have struggled to establish consistency, while their seven defeats highlight the magnitude of the problems confronting the team.

The club’s decision to wait until the international break before making a managerial change could be viewed as an opportunity to carefully assess potential replacements rather than rush into an appointment.

Nevertheless, allowing Carrick to remain in charge of training while the search for his successor continues leaves the club in an uncomfortable situation.

The upcoming fixtures against AS Roma and Aston Villa could therefore prove particularly significant. Carrick may have two final opportunities to improve the team’s fortunes, although expectations will remain high regardless of the uncertainty surrounding his future.

For Manchester United, the priority will be finding a manager capable of restoring confidence, improving performances and moving the club away from its disappointing position in the league.

With the international break approaching, attention will increasingly shift towards the board’s next move and the identity of the individual expected to take charge of one of football’s biggest clubs.

For now, Carrick remains in the dugout, but his departure appears increasingly imminent.

And with United sitting 17th after 13 matches, two wins, seven defeats and four draws, supporters have every reason to be concerned about what lies ahead.

Two more defeats loading? That is the fear among sections of the Manchester United fanbase as the club prepares for another difficult period.
