The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested four more suspects, including a Lebanese national, in connection with the $260 million narcotics shipment intercepted in France last month.
The fresh arrests were reported by TV3 on Friday, 23 October 2026. The identities of the four new suspects have not been made public, and one other suspect is said to be on the run.
French customs officers intercepted the consignment at the Port of Dunkirk on 10 September 2026. About 3.9 tonnes of suspected cocaine, valued at around €225 million, was found concealed in a container declared as plastic waste shipped from Ghana. Part of the shipment was reportedly bound for Antwerp, Belgium.
Following the seizure, NACOC arrested three people it said had represented and facilitated the activities in Ghana of Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, popularly known as “Bolle Jos”.
Four Ghanaians, Desmond Koranteng Curiel, Musah Attah, Kweku Otchere and businesswoman Jessica Hartog, were later arraigned before the High Court in Accra on 16 September on charges including conspiracy and the export of narcotic drugs. They were remanded in custody.
Separately, ten other suspects, among them four officers of the Ghana Revenue Authority’s Customs Division, were remanded in custody while investigations continued.
NACOC has said its investigations are ongoing, including efforts to establish how the container left Ghana and to identify others who may have been involved. The commission has indicated that further arrests could follow, in Ghana or abroad.
All suspects in the case are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
