Terrible news has hit Gabon and the entire African continent after the 28-year-old star striker Aaron Boupenza was confirmed dead on Wednesday morning.

The striker passed away after falling from the 11th floor of a building in China, per multiple reports emanating from the Asian country.

Born in Moanza in Gabon, the player started his youth career in 2015 at CF Mouanana before moving to Bordeaux B in 2016. After a three-year stint in France, he moved to Feirense in Portugal in the 2019-20 season from Bordeaux on loan.

He finally moved to Turkey’s side, Hatayspor, in 2021 before having short stints in the Middle East, with Qatari and Saudi Arabian clubs Al-Arabi and Al-Shabab.

A move to MLS and Romania followed before signing for Chinese side Zhejiang FC in 2025 where he has met his untimely death.
