The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that Harold Norman, husband of Ghanaian fashion personality Rosemond Akua Adobea, popularly known as Nana Akua Addo, will be arraigned as soon as he is discharged from hospital following an ongoing investigation into allegations of abuse.
The development has given a new dimension to the controversy surrounding the couple’s strained relationship after videos and photographs circulated widely on social media appearing to show Nana Akua Addo with visible injuries and separate footage purportedly involving physical violence against her child.
While the images and videos have generated intense public concern, the Police have now disclosed that the case did not begin with the recent social media storm.
According to a statement issued by the Police on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) received a formal petition from Nana Akua Addo on August 20, 2026, in which she alleged that her husband had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.
The Police said the complaint triggered investigations and eventually led to Norman’s arrest. The Police statement revealed that the couple had previously come to the attention of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at both the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.
That revelation suggests that the reported conflict between the couple had been the subject of police intervention before the latest allegations became widely discussed online.
The nature and outcome of those earlier interventions were not fully detailed in the statement, but the Police said preliminary investigations had established that the couple had been handled by DOVVSU units at the two stations.
The matter subsequently escalated with the formal petition submitted by Nana Akua Addo to the CID.
Following the petition, Police investigators arrested Harold Norman at his residence on August 27 to assist with investigations.
He was subsequently cautioned and granted Police enquiry bail on August 29, with two sureties, while investigators continued their work.
The development means Norman was not merely the subject of unverified claims circulating online; there was already a formal police investigation into allegations made against him before the latest videos generated widespread attention.
However, the allegations remain matters to be determined through due process, and an arrest or investigation does not in itself establish criminal liability.
Norman was scheduled to appear before court on Wednesday, October 7, according to the Police.
However, his lawyer informed investigators that Norman had been admitted to hospital and was therefore unable to attend court.
The Police said DOVVSU investigators subsequently visited the hospital to verify the information.
“Investigators from DOVVSU have visited the said hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation to ensure he is arraigned immediately upon discharge from the hospital,” the Police said.
The statement therefore makes clear that the case has not been discontinued or put on hold indefinitely because of his hospitalisation.
Instead, investigators are monitoring his condition and intend to proceed with the arraignment once he is medically discharged.
The police disclosure comes against the backdrop of a social media storm surrounding Nana Akua Addo.
Videos and photographs circulating online have reportedly shown the fashion personality with injuries, prompting concern among fans and members of the public.
Another video purportedly shows her child being subjected to physical violence. The authenticity, context and circumstances surrounding all material circulating online must, however, be established through proper investigation rather than social-media commentary.
The Police statement did not rely on the viral videos as the basis of the case. Instead, it pointed to the formal petition Nana Akua Addo submitted weeks before the current online controversy intensified.
The latest development has also revived attention on Nana Akua Addo’s previous public comments about difficulties in her marriage.
In a 2021 interview with blogger ZionFelix, Nana Akua Addo acknowledged that her husband had previously been unfaithful.
She described the experience as emotionally devastating, saying she was “broken” and “hurt”, but explained that the couple sought counselling and attempted to work through the problem.
The couple later legally married in March 2022 and have two daughters. Norman has generally maintained a relatively private public profile despite his marriage to one of Ghana’s prominent fashion personalities.
He has been associated with business activities, including links to Swiftcash Forex Bureau, as well as youth entrepreneurship initiatives. Beyond the criminal investigation, the Police said efforts are also being made to ensure that Nana Akua Addo and her child receive the necessary social welfare support.
The CID, together with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, is working to facilitate welfare assistance for the mother and child.
