Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson has announced President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to put the children of Ghanaian Cocoa farmers on scholarship for their tertiary education.

As farmers await the new prices of cocoa on Monday 4th August, the finace minister revealed the good news via his Facebook wall.

Ato Forson wrote:

“Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to announce to cocoa farmers that President Mahama has introduced a Tertiary Education Scholarship Scheme for children of cocoa farmers.

“Consequently, in the 2025/26 season, COCOBOD will develop modalities and implement the Cocoa Tertiary Scholarship Scheme for children of cocoa farmers, which will take effect from the 2026/27 academic year.

Ghana’s cocoa season opens on Thursday, August 7th, 2025.
