Dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, known as Shatta Wale, used his performance at MoMoFest X ShattaFest to call for greater unity among Ghanaian artistes and their supporters.
The event, held at the Youth Resources Centre in Adaklu, saw Shatta Wale perform fellow Volta Region artiste Stonebwoy’s hit song ‘Putuu’.
Shatta Wale said choosing the song was intended to show that artistes could celebrate and support one another instead of allowing hatred and rivalry to divide them.
He also urged people, particularly the youth, to reject hostility and embrace love and unity, which he said were important for both individual and collective success.
“When we talk about superstars from the Volta Region, we mention Edem, Stonebwoy and myself, Shatta Wale,” he said.
According to the artiste, the achievements of the three musicians reflected the talent and potential within the Volta Region. He said their success demonstrated that the region was home to gifted and hardworking people making contributions that helped promote it nationally and internationally.
Shatta Wale encouraged his fans and other residents of the region to support, motivate and celebrate one another. He said progress would be easier to achieve when people worked together and replaced hatred with love.
His performance of ‘Putuu’ received an enthusiastic response from the thousands of fans at the venue. Many sang and danced along as he delivered the song.
MoMoFest X ShattaFest was organised by MobileMoney Fintech Ltd. Fans travelled from across the country to attend the event, which combined musical performances with an opportunity to celebrate Ghanaian music and promote the MoMo brand and its services.
Shatta Wale performed for about four hours, starting at about 0100 hours, and entertained the crowd with a selection of his popular songs.
The extended performance maintained an energetic atmosphere throughout the night, with patrons singing, dancing and joining in the celebrations.
