The Ministry for Lands and Natural Resources’ bid to restore the lost beauty of Ghana’s natural resources is not as intense as the government promised during the opposition days.

Galamsey and deforestation are still at their peak, with water bodies and forests crying out for help.

On Tuesday, March 24th, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the minister for Lands and Natural Resources, disclosed that over 30 million trees were planted in 2025 by the ministry.

“…It is therefore paramount that we take deliberate and collective action to protect, restore and sustainably manage our forest resources”, the minister disclosed why it is important to fight to regain the freshness of our forest.

“I am pleased to report that against the target of 30 million seedlings in 2025, we successfully distributed and planted over 30 million trees across the country,” Yaw Boamah remarked.

Nevertheless, Patrick Yaw Boamah, the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, quickly debunked the minister’s revelation and urged him to show proof of the 30 million trees planted.

“You said you have planted 30 million trees without giving us the regions and districts that benefited. We need to know because we shouldn’t be proud as a country that we have lost about 80% of our forest cover,” he stated.

The fight against galamsey and illegal cutting of trees looks like a tough task because the government is not doing enough to let citizens know the damage they are causing to the land and water bodies.
