Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, former Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Chief Executive, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, and Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, have reportedly escaped a frightening mid-air incident aboard a PassionAir flight from Kumasi to Accra.

The incident, which reportedly occurred during the flight, left several passengers terrified as the aircraft experienced unusual and violent movements, raising fears that it could crash.

Dr Kokofu, who has described the experience as the worst he has ever encountered while flying, recounted the incident during an interview on Lawson TV.

According to him, the flight was initially delayed by approximately 30 to 40 minutes due to operational challenges before passengers were eventually allowed to board.

He explained that shortly after takeoff, the aircraft began experiencing severe movements which he said were far beyond what passengers would ordinarily associate with turbulence.

The situation reportedly became increasingly frightening, with passengers screaming and fearing for their lives.

“It was a harrowing experience. It was the worst experience I have ever had on a flight, and I think God saved us. We all gave up,” Dr Kokofu recounted.

He further suggested that the aircraft appeared to have struck something mid-air, triggering intense movements that heightened the panic among passengers.

Dr Kokofu disclosed that the Ashanti Regional Minister was seated beside him, while Lil Win was also among those on board.

“The Ashanti Regional Minister was seated on my right side, and Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Win was also there. It was a complete trauma,” he added.

Following the incident, the former EPA boss said he had written to the relevant aviation authorities, requesting a comprehensive investigation into the occurrence and similar incidents recorded in the past.

He expressed concern about aviation safety in Ghana but commended the pilot for remaining calm and successfully bringing the aircraft to a safe landing in Accra.
