Former Black Stars forward Augustine Arhinful has revealed that Dreams FC’s incredible journey to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup can not be used to measure the success of Ghana football.

Football in Ghana has been in a very poor state in recent years and many believe Dreams FC’s campaign in the CAF Confederation attests that Ghana is back to its best.

“Our football has gone down, and we all know but Dreams FC have done very well, and we commend them for what they’ve done,” said Arhinful. The former Obuasi Goldfields striker praised Dreams FC for the wonderful campaign in Africa.

“As to the impact on Ghana football, there are a lot of factors that will come in to make sure that our football gets to where we expect it,” added the former Borussia Dortmund and Trabzonspor striker when talking to Graphic Sports.

Augustine Arhinful, 49, was the top scorer of the Ghana Premier League in the 1992-93 season with AshGold SC, then Obuasi Goldfields and hence knows much about Ghana’s domestic football.

The ex-Back Stars striker believes Ghana football is still not in good shape and we should not use Dreams FC’s success in the Confederation Cup campaign to judge the revival of our football.
