It’s the battle of two giants of an African club football in the first leg of the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League.

The two teams have won a combined 16 CAF Champions League trophies with the Congolese side winning 5 while Al Ahly has won the most on the continent with 11.

TP Mazembe led by Senegalese tactician Lamine Ndiaye has been very impressive in the CCL considering how they struggled last season in the CAF Confederation Cup. The home performance of TP Mazembe is exciting as they have won every game played at the Stade TP Mazembe including the fantastic 1-0 win over Mamelodi Sundowns except the goalless draw against Petro in the quarter-finals. The Congolese side progressed after a brilliant away win in Angola against Petro Luanda. The legendary performance displayed in Angola by TP Mazembe must be replicated before they can slaughter Al Ahly on Saturday.

The defending champions are the best team at this stage of the competition as they know how to grind results regardless of the venue. Al Ahly lost 2-1 in the Egyptian Cup final to their rivals Zamalek in the Cairo Derby and must up their game before they can secure good results for the second leg.

A huge contest is expected on Saturday afternoon in Lubumbashi between TP Mazembe and Al Ahly.
