Week 5 Review

Stephen Amankona’s brace were enough to help Aduana Stars record a three consecutive wins to move to fourth on the table with just a point behind Medeama who occupy the number one slot. William Danquah’s fourth minute strike for Sweduru All Blacks silenced Agyeman Badu Stadium in Dormaa Ahenkro. Star striker Amankonah restored parity in the 35th minute. A red card in the 60th minute to All Blacks gave Aduana Stars the upper hand as Amankonah in the 86th minute captalised on that and struck once again to send Dormaa Ahenkro to pure football heaven.

Medeama SC, through Nana Kofi Babil’s 69th-minute goal, won 1-0 at newly promoted side Debibi United to move to the top of the table.

Heart of Lions secured their second win of the season with a hard fought 3-2 win over ten men Ashanti Gold. Francis Odoom’s goal, sandwiched between William Oduro’s brace in the first half, gave Heart of Lions a commanding 3-1 lead against the visitors who got red card in the 34th minute. Karim Zito’s charges pulled one back in the 73rd minute but it was too late for them to stage a come back due to the numerical disadvantage.

Holy Stars secured an important 1-0 win against Berekum Chelsea with Francis Asante’s 6th minute strike making the difference. Chelsea has lost all three away games thus far and sit in the relegation zone whilst Holy Stars are fifth, having started the new campaign on a higher note.

Port City defeated Bechem United 3-1 with goals from Zakaria Hamza and Owusu Ansah (brace) condemning the travellers to second away defeat of the season. Francis Acquah’s goal was a consolation for the visitors.

At the Nsenkyire Park in Samraboi, Samartex secured a slim 1-0 win over Young Apostles of Wenchi to move into second place on the table.

On Saturday, Hearts of Oak failed to record a victory in three consecutive games after playing a goalless draw at Dreams FC in Tema.

Bibiani Gold Stars secured a very important point at Vision FC, having played out a dull goalless draw.

Asante Kotoko beat bogey side Karela United 1-0 on Thursday October 1st at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the post Tinkler era to commence week 5. Isaac Agyeman’s fourth-minute strike helped the Porcupine Warriors returned to winning ways after the 2-0 defeat against Aduana Stars in Week in Oseikrom.
