Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, known professionally as Ayra Starr, says she would end a serious relationship if she became attracted to someone else.
The singer was responding to a woman who said she was facing a similar dilemma during the Ask Ayra Starr show. Ayra Starr said that, in the same situation, she would leave her current partner and pursue a relationship with the new person rather than remain involved with both men.
She said ending the existing relationship would be the more appropriate decision because being romantically involved with two people at the same time was not ideal.
“If I’m in a serious relationship with a guy and then I find another guy more attractive, I would break up with him instead of dating both of them at the same time. I don’t think you can love two people.. I think you need time to yourself so you can figure it out,” she said.
Ayra Starr also addressed the effect romantic relationships can have on friendships, advising her fans not to distance themselves from their friends after falling in love.
She said a partner should not attempt to isolate someone from their friends and stressed the importance of maintaining a balance between friendships and romantic relationships.
“You should never abandon your friends because you are in love. Your partner should not isolate you from your friends because you are in a relationship. They should be a balance between friendship and relationship in love,” the singer added.
