Henry Nana Boakye, the newly elected National Second Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says he will work with the party’s leadership and members to secure victory in Ghana’s 2028 general elections.

Nana B, as he is widely known, thanked delegates after being elected at the NPP’s recently concluded National Delegates Conference in Kumasi.

He described the appointment as both a promotion and an honour, having previously served as the party’s National Youth Organiser and National Organiser over an eight-year period.

“I am exceedingly grateful to our delegates for electing me as the National 2nd Vice Chairman of our great party. After serving our party as National Youth Organiser and National Organiser over the last 8 years, I take promotion with great honour and pledge to join forces with our able leadership in ensuring that by the grace of God, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is elected President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2028 General elections.”

The new executive leadership faces the task of reorganising and mobilising the NPP ahead of the next general election, after the party lost power in the 2024 elections.

Nana B said the responsibilities of the newly elected officers were clear, and that they would need to work together to strengthen the party and challenge the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Our Job is clearly cut out for us and we would work to present a formidable front that will wrestle power from this repressive NDC government.”

He also praised the party and its members for what he described as a successful electoral process, while calling on the newly elected executives to cooperate in pursuit of the NPP’s political objectives.

“I congratulate us all for a very successful process. To fellow elected officers congratulations let’s work together to deliver power for the NPP.”

The National Second Vice Chairman said unity and collaboration among the new executives would be essential as the party begins preparations for the 2028 general elections.
