Nhyiaeso MP Dr Stephen Amoah, popularly known as Sticka, has warned that every member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in his constituency would be forced to leave if he were arrested without committing an offence.

The former Deputy Finance Minister said he had no objection to being arrested if he had broken the law. However, he threatened unspecified consequences if authorities detained him without evidence of wrongdoing.

Speaking during a panel discussion on OwiaTV on October 3, 2026, Dr Amoah said he would not allow himself to be intimidated.

He argued that a failure by the authorities to respect the rule of law could provoke reactions with wider consequences.

“For me, sitting here, if the NDC wants, they should arrest me. If I am arrested after committing an offence, I am okay. But if I don’t commit any offence and I am arrested, after my release, Ghanaians will see what will happen.

“In my constituency, every NDC member there will leave the place. I swear by the God I serve, if you arrest me for no offence,” he said.

Dr Amoah’s comments come amid several arrests involving people linked to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

One of the most recent cases concerns the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.

Some NPP supporters have described the legal proceedings against him as politically motivated. The High Court later granted him bail after the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) began proceedings over allegations that he caused financial loss to the state and engaged in money laundering.
