The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has reminded all Private Lotto Operators (PLOs), agents and writers that manual paper-based lotto operations must end by Thursday, 1st October, 2026.

In a public announcement dated Monday, 28th September, 2026, and signed by Management, the Authority said the directive follows an earlier extension of the deadline for the cessation of manual lotto operations. It stressed that the use of manual paper operations should stop by the stated date.

The NLA warned that any PLO, agent or writer who fails to comply will not be permitted to operate and will face the full rigours of the law. The Authority did not detail the specific sanctions in the announcement.

The notice also addressed operators who wish to remain in the industry under the new arrangement. Those interested in registering as Lotto Marketing Companies (LMCs) have been asked to contact the Sales Managers at any of the NLA’s regional or district offices nationwide. They may also reach Aisha Tackie on 0247 242 942.

For further enquiries, the public can call the NLA’s Customer Service helplines on 0266-087-966 or 0266-087-946. The Authority also lists its Customer Care Centre lines as 0302 671644, 0302 671645 and 0302 671646. More information is available on the NLA’s website, www.nla.com.gh.

The announcement, issued just days before the deadline, leaves little time for operators still relying on paper-based systems to adjust. The NLA’s message makes clear that the October 1 date stands, and that operators who have not yet moved should engage the Authority without delay.

As is standard on NLA communications, the notice also reminded the public that games are for persons aged 18 years and above and urged players to play responsibly.
