The Porcupine Warriors were in deep trouble as in the 9 games they had played in the second round of the GPL, they had lost seven, drawn one and won one. Things had fallen apart for Asante Kotoko as nothing was motivating them to fight for the team.
The club Patron, Ɔte kɔkɔɔsoɔ decided to take matters into his own hands. A crisis meeting was called at Manhyia between the club and Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll’s office. Opemsoɔ advised Prosper Ogum and his lads to fight for the team. He gave them his blessings and bid them farewell.
Since that meeting, Asante Kotoko has beaten the league leaders Samartex, and drawn with the defending champions in Tarkwa.
Head coach Prosper Ogum believes His Royal Majesty’s intervention has been extremely important in the team’s revival.
“No one in this world will meet the King and the King will talk to him and he will disobey the King, so I think it is good we went to Manhyia to listen to some pieces of advice from the King, from the owner, from the landlord so I think it is good and I think it is doing the trick for us.
“We want to thank the King for his timely intervention, we are grateful to him and the supporters and Asanteman and if this support continues, I think the face of the team will change,” Ogum said.
Prosper Ogum thanked Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll for the role played in Kotoko.
Asante Kotoko sits 11th on the table after playing 28 matches. The Porcupine Warriors host Legon Cities in Week 29 of the GPL.
