Vincent Aboubakar reportedly suffered a serious injury in training last night. The 31-year-old Besiktas forward’s reported injury has brought fear and panic among Cameroonian fans as it will be a major blow if he is confirmed to miss the AFCON.
According to news from the Cameroonian media platform CFoot, Vincent Aboubakar is close to announcing his withdrawal from the competition.
On X, the Cameroonian media outlet announced, “According to exclusive information from CFOOT, Vincent Aboubakar had to cut short his training session this evening due to a serious injury.
“The first diagnoses carried out reveal an injury which could cause Vincent Aboubakar to miss the CAN 2023”, added CFOOT.
The exact injury sustained by Aboubakar Vincent, captain for Cameroon has not been revealed but it is rumoured that the injury is serious and he may miss the 2023 AFCON. He won the top scorer award with 8 goals in the 2021 AFCON.
The Indomitable Lions have already lost Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo to injury.
Top players like Wilfred Ndidi, Taiwo Awoniyo, Thomas Partey, Sadiq Umar and Victor Boniface are all missing the 2023 AFCON due to injuries.
