West Ham and Mexico midfielder, Edson Alvarez has praised Mohammed Kudus after scoring against Freiburg in the UEFA Europa League.
The Premier League side hosted the German side in their final group game on Thursday at the London Olympic Stadium.
The former Ajax player assisted Kudus’ goal in the 14th minute and went on to score the game’s second goal off an assist from Jarrod Bowen in the 42nd minute to second a 2-0 win.
The goal is Alvarez’s first for The Hammers since joining the club alongside Kudus this past off-season.
Speaking in the interview, Alvarez shared his joy seeing Kudus score his seventh goal of the season.
“It was a very special magic night for me. I know Mo (Mohammed Kudus) so when he run, I saw him directly. I am happy for him as well, am also happy to score my first goal with this beautiful shirt.”
Kudus has so far scored three times in the Europa League.
The 23-year-old is expected to be named in Ghana’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) slated for next year.
