The minnows are enjoying the 2023 AFCON as Namibia is the latest team to spring a surprise in Ivory Coast.

Ranked 116 in the world and 28 on the continent, Namibia was a huge underdog against Tunisia.

The 1-0 victory ensures that Namibia has recorded their first-ever win in the AFCON as they didn’t win a single game in 1998, 2008 and 2019.

Namibia squandered many chances in the first half as Shalulile missed clear goal-scoring opportunities in the 7th and 8th minutes.

In the second half, Orlando Pirates forward Deon Hotto met Bethuel Muzue’s ball deep in the box and his header flew past the goalkeeper to give the underdogs a deserving lead in the 85th minute.

Namibia has shocked Tunisia and it is a sign that the minnows are closing the gap between the big boys.

Mozambique, Cape Verde, Mauritania, Angola and Equatorial Guinea have proven to be good so far by performing extremely well against the perennial favourites.
