The first of the 8 outstanding games of the Ghana Premier League will be played in Tamale at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium with the poor RTU hosting the inconsistent Medeama SC.
The fixture was originally scheduled to take place in Week 13 but due to Medeama’s CAF Champions League commitment, it was postponed.
Real Tamale United have lost all their last 5 league games and it is a huge concern for the Tamale-based club as they are relegation-bound.
Head coach Abdulai Abdul Mumin threatened to quit his job following the 1-0 defeat to Accra Great Olympics on Sunday if RTU did not add some quality to the squad during the second transfer window of the season.
RTU has the worst defence in the league having conceded 28 goals but is lucky to not face star striker Jonathan Sowah and left-back Hamidu Fatawu as they are part of the Black Stars team preparing in Kumasi ahead of the AFCON.
The Tamale club needs a lift from every angle as their First Round has been more than awful. Owusu Afriyie and Mohammed Mankuyeli have not been able to bang in the expected goals.
The defensive set-up of Issah Ahmed, Hafiz Adams, Mohamed Hardi Abdullai and Faisal Gariba has continued to concede goals regularly.
Medeama’s new Bosnian coach Nebojsa Kapor drew goals against Karela in Tamale on Saturday and will be eager to record his first win for the Mauve and Yellow.
A win will take Medeama to 9th on the table as they currently occupy 11th position with 20 points from 13 games.
This will be Medeama’s first of the four outstanding games and need the three points to start their title defence.
