Ghana draw 2-2 against Egypt in a crunch clash in Abidjan

Ghana suffered a horrible 2-1 defeat against Cape Verde at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan in their opening game of the 2023 AFCON on Sunday night.

Expectations on Black Stars against The Blue Sharks of Cape Verde were high as football fans across the nation thought Ghana was going to beat the 73rd-ranked team in the world.

Reports per Sadick Adams in Abidjan say that one angry fan tried to seriously attack the head coach of the team, Chris Houghton.

Sports Obama wrote on his Facebook Wall,  “One member of the Ghanaian supporters in Abidjan has been arrested for an attack on coach Chris Hughton at the team’s hotel.

“It took the intervention of some Ghanaian diplomats who were around to save the coach from the attack.

“The unidentified man has been handed to the Ivorian Police,” added Sports Obama.

Ghanaian football is in a huge mess as yesterday’s defeat was a  horrible one that could lead to the elimination of Ghana very early in the tournament.

Ghana will play against Egypt on Thursday and it is a make-or-break fixture for the Black Stars.
