The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association has ordered a temporary ban on Real Tamale United from playing at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.

Real Tamale United fans assaulted match commissioner Charles Darkwa in their 1-0 home win over Medeama SC in the postponed Ghana Premier League fixture on Wednesday 3rd January at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.

Reports revealed that a fan hurled a sachet of water and hit the back of the match commissioner leading to his unconsciousness. The game was halted for a while before it was resumed as RTU recorded its first win in 6 games against the defending champions.

GFA Premier League Regulations Article 14(2) states inter alia “the GFA may order the closure of any league centre where the safety of clubs, Match Officials or Spectators cannot be guaranteed.” Therefore, the GFA Premier League allows the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium to be closed down from Real Tamale United.

Article 14(3)Premier League Regulations states that the<span;> Competitions Department is therefore advised to determine the venue for the Club’s subsequent home matches.

The GFA is yet to announce the venues where RTU will play their home games.

Bofoakwa Tano recently was punished by the FA for assaulting Nsoatreman head coach, Maxwell Konadu, at the Sunyani Coronation Park. They played two crucial Premier League home games in the Ashanti Region and Eastern Region instead of their favourite Bono Region and unsurprisingly lost both fixtures against Samartex and Legon Cities respectively.
