Hearts of Oak 2-3 Asante Kotoko

The Super Clash lived up to its hype as 5 goals were scored with Asante Kotoko emerging as the winner. Hearts of Oak opened the scoring in the 39th minute after Linda Mtange headed Salifu Ibrahim’s superb free-kick to give the Phobians a deserved lead.

Asante Kotoko equalised after a superb pass from Lamptey split Hearts of Oak’s defence as Baba Yahaya set up Isaac Oppong to equalise with a fine finish.

Kotoko started the second half fully determined especially after Hearts of Oak’s midfielder Salifu Ibrahim got injured and was replaced by Martin Karikari in the 53rd minute.

Stephen Mukwala added the second after Ayi failed to parry Isaac Oppong’s shot which he quickly slotted home Kotoko’s second.

The dangerous Mukwala capitalized on Ayi’s inability to clear Kelvin Asigbey’s back pass and easily made it 3-1 in favour of Fabolous in the 74th minute.

Hearts of Oak pulled one back in the 94th minute through Martin Karikari to make it 2-3 as it was just a mere consolation.

The win sees Asante Kotoko win their last 5 games in all competitions. The Porcupine Warriors are just 4 points behind the table toppers Samartex.

Hearts of Oak are in a big mess after just one win in their last seven Premier League games.
