The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a 40% increment
of the Prize Money that the winners of the 2023 AFCON will take home. It represents a massive increment from the 2021 edition hosted in Cameroon.
Breakdown of the Prize Money
The winner will take home USD 7,000,000, and the runners-up will go home with USD 4,000,000.
All the semi-final teams are set to receive USD 2.500,000 while the quarter-final teams will be given USD 1.300.000 each.
“We have increased the Prize Money of the AFCON Winner to USD 7,000,000, which is a 40% increase from the previous AFCON Prize Money,” revealed CAF president Patrice Motsepe.
Patrice Motsepe expressed his optimism on the use of the Prize Money to help develop football.
“I am confident that a portion of the Prize Money will contribute to developing football and also benefit all the football stakeholders, as well as assist our Member Associations with their administrations.”
AFCON 2023 is 9 days away from the big kickoff as all the teams are finalising their preparations to fight for the 7 million dollars.
