Many Arsenal fans on Saturday called for Party’s inclusion in their game against Chelsea as his presence limited Wolverhampton Wanders’ threat on Arsenal’s 2-0 win.
Mikel Arteta listened and included the Ghanaian midfielder in Arsenal’s lineup on Tuesday night against Chelsea. It was a must-win game for Arsenal as they couldn’t afford to drop a single point. The Gunners thrashed their London rivals Chelsea 5-0 to extend their lead over second-place Liverpool to three points even though they have played one game more than the Reds.
Speaking after the game to Arsenal’s official website, head coach Mikel Arteta disclosed that Partey looked sharp against Chelsea.
“We believed it was the right decision to bring Thomas [Partey] back into the starting lineup. He looked sharp and ready, having trained exceptionally well in recent days. Given Chelsea’s tactical setup and attacking threats, we felt confident in his ability to contribute,” Arteta commented, as quoted on Arsenal’s official website.
Kai Haverts and Ben White each scored a brace while Trossard scored the other one.
Arsenal has four games left for the season as their destiny lies in the hands of others to win the EPL title for the first time in 20 years.
