Kamaldeen Sulemana has been confirmed by Southampton manager Russell Martin to miss the 2023 AFCON

Russell Martin confirmed that  Kamaldeen Sulemana will return to action in late January, or early February – ruling him out of the AFCON.

In an interview, the English-born manager revealed the winger had suffered a hamstring injury in November which will keep him out for some weeks.

The young forward was named in Chris Hughton’s 55-man provisional squad for the tournament as he was guaranteed a place in the final 27.

The Southampton boss in an interview with the Daily Echo said, “Kamaldeen won’t be in the squad. I’m sure I’ll chat to Chris (Hughton) about where he is in his fitness.”

Russell Martin also said he’d speak to Chris Hughton about the winger’s fitness in the coming days.

AFCON 2023 is set to take place between 13th January to 11th February.
