Afua Asantewaa, a singer from Ghana, is going to attempt to shatter the current record for the longest singing marathon—105 hours—making history in the process.

Today, Sunday, December 24, at 12:00 am, marked the start of the grand event, which will run until December 27, 2023.

During this almost five-day singing marathon, Afua Asantewaa hopes to introduce a worldwide audience to the diversity and depth of Ghanaian music. She has promised to celebrate Ghana’s musical legacy by performing only local music throughout the endeavor.

Thousands of music fans and supporters are expected to flock to Akwaaba Village for the event, which is expected to bring in history-minded people.

Afua is carefully recording her interviews, practice sessions, and preparations in order to comply with the Guinness World Record regulations. This documentation will be included in the evidence that is submitted.

As long as she keeps singing, Afua Asantewaa is able to sit, stand, or lie down during the attempt. In contrast to traditional music performances, she is not permitted to drum or hum along with the songs. She is able to hold quick discussions in between songs, nevertheless.
